The Warnings of History to the Ungodly

,} ^bJude, a ^cbond-servant of Jesus Christ and brother of ^{▼▼Or Jacob}James,

To ^ethose who are the called, beloved in God the Father, and ^fkept for Jesus Christ: 2 ^gMay mercy, peace, and love ^hbe multiplied to you.

3 ⁱBeloved, while I was making every effort to write you about our ^jcommon salvation, I felt the necessity to write to you appealing that you ^kcontend earnestly for ^lthe faith that was once for all time ^mhanded down to ⁿthe ^{▼▼Lit holy ones; i.e., God’s people}saints. 4 For certain people have ^pcrept in unnoticed, those who were long beforehand ^{▼▼Or written about regarding this
,} ^rmarked out for this condemnation, ungodly persons who turn ^sthe grace of our God into ^tindecent behavior and ^udeny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.

5 Now I want to ^vremind you, though ^wyou know everything once and for all, that ^{▼▼One early ms Jesus}the Lord, ^yafter saving a people out of the land of Egypt, ^{▼▼Lit the second time}subsequently destroyed those who did not believe. 6 And ^aaangels who did not keep their own domain but abandoned their proper dwelling place, these He has ^abkept in eternal restraints under darkness for the judgment of the great day, 7 just as ^acSodom and Gomorrah and the ^adcities around them, since they in the same way as these angels indulged in sexual perversion and ^aewent after ^{▼▼Lit different; or other flesh}strange flesh, are exhibited as an ^{▼▼Or example of eternal fire, in undergoing punishment
,} ^ahexample in undergoing the ^aipunishment of eternal fire.

8 Yet in the same way these people also, dreaming, ^ajdefile the flesh, reject authority, and speak abusively of angelic ^{▼▼Lit glories}majesties. 9 But ^alMichael ^amthe archangel, when he disputed with the devil and argued about ^anthe body of Moses, did not dare pronounce against him an abusive judgment, but said, “ ^aoThe Lord rebuke you!” 10 But ^apthese people disparage all the things that they do not understand; and ^aqall the things that they know by instinct, ^arlike unreasoning animals, by these things they are destroyed. 11 Woe to them! For they have gone ^asthe way of Cain, and for pay ^{▼▼Lit they have poured themselves out}they have given themselves up to ^authe error of Balaam, and ^avperished in the rebellion of Korah. 12 These are the ones who are ^{▼▼Or stains}hidden reefs ^axin your love feasts when they feast with you ^aywithout fear, like shepherds caring only for themselves; ^azclouds without water, ^bacarried along by winds; autumn trees without fruit, ^{▼▼Lit twice}doubly dead, ^bcuprooted; 13 ^bdwild waves of the sea, churning up ^betheir own shameful deeds like dirty foam; wandering stars, ^bffor whom the ^{▼▼Or netherworld gloom}gloom of darkness has been reserved forever.

14 It was also about these people that ^bhEnoch, in the seventh generation from Adam, prophesied, saying, “ ^biBehold, the Lord has come with ^{▼▼Lit His holy ten thousands}many thousands of His holy ones, 15 ^bkto execute judgment upon all, and to convict all the ungodly of all their ungodly deeds which they have done in an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things which ^blungodly sinners have spoken against Him.” 16 These are ^bmgrumblers, finding fault, ^bnfollowing after their own lusts; ^{▼▼Lit their mouth speaks}they speak ^bparrogantly, flattering people ^bqfor the sake of gaining an advantage.

Keep Yourselves in the Love of God

17 But you, ^brbeloved, ^bsought to remember the words that were spoken beforehand by ^btthe apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ, 18 that they were saying to you, “ ^buIn the last time there will be mockers, ^bvfollowing after their own ungodly lusts.” 19 These are the ones who cause divisions, ^{▼▼Or merely natural
,} ^bxworldly-minded, ^{▼▼Lit not having}devoid of the Spirit. 20 But you, ^bzbeloved, ^cabuilding yourselves up on your most holy ^cbfaith, ^ccpraying in the Holy Spirit, 21 keep yourselves in the love of God, ^cdlooking forward to the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life. 22 And have mercy on some, who are doubting; 23 save others, ^cesnatching them out of the fire; and on some have mercy with fear, ^cfhating even the garment polluted by the flesh.

24 ^cgNow to Him who is able to protect you from stumbling, and to ^chmake you stand in the presence of His glory, blameless with ^cigreat joy, 25 to the ^cjonly ^ckGod our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, ^clbe glory, majesty, dominion, and authority ^cmbefore all time and now and ^{▼▼Lit to all the ages}forever.
